Sur la côte Est, Thio est le berceau calédonien du nickel où il fut découvert vers 1876.Dans ce village situé, à 120 km de Nouméa,fut extrait le premier minerai nickélifère de Nouvelle Calédonie et du monde!Deux fonderies y ont étè exploitées:à Ouroué(1889-1891) puis à Thio Mission(1912-1930).

We are in Vietnam now and heading for Cambodia in a few days time. It is hot, very hot and sticky but it is great here and the food also!
